CDLib 2 allows for the cataloging of CDs with a new twist. CDLib 2 also creates a database of CD changer magazines, including the CD titles stored in each magazine! Do you sometimes forget which CD is in which magazine? Would you like to print a report of all magazines and their associated CDs? CDLib 2 is the answer. We are now shipping v2.04 which fixed the installation to allow users to upgrade and not lose their existing data. Version 2.03 fixed an error when playing music and switching from the CD Player window. Version 2.02 added export capabilities and a Remote Player to control the music when you're not on the CD Player window. It also included volume control. Version 2.01 fixed reported errors from v2.00 and allows better handling of international issues. CDLib now uses CDDB? ?! No more typing in your CD's information. Get it quickly and easily from the Internet, accessing CDDB's on-line database and automatically populate the CD title, artist, music style plus the track titles and times. Just place your CD in your PC's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive and click the CDDB Link button. What could be easier? We also added a CD Player to listen to all of your favorite CDs. The CD Player allows you to skip songs you don't like and even create and save a customized play list for each of your CDs. Listen to the songs you want to play, in the order you want to hear them. Also allows for random play or continuous play of a CD or song. Use the Intro function to listen to the beginning of the songs until you choose the song you want to play. You even control the amount of time the Intro function uses.

CDLib no longer stops playing your CD when you switch to other windows. It continues to play using the parameters set on the CD Player window. We've included a Remote Player to control the music when you're not on the CD Player window. It is stored in the system tray (bottom right corner of the screen) and can be double-clicked to open it. Closing it places it back in the system tray. To unload it permanently, change the Use Remote Player setting on the Edit Properties window.

Exporting is available for those who want to build their own customized reports. All existing reports can be printed, previewed or exported. New reports built specifically for export are found on the View Reports window.

CDLib 2 uses a new Outlook style interface to cut down on the number of open windows. It allows for the right side of the main window to change depending on which CDLib group you select.

Here are the five components available when organizing your CD library:

CD Magazine - CD changers use magazines to handle multiple CDs. Each magazine contains a specific number of slots to store CDs. CDLib allows you to drag-and-drop CD titles to a magazine. For those with a 25, 50, 100 or 200 CD changer, your CD player is considered one big magazine!

Artist - Artists are added as individuals or groups. Once an artist is added, it appears on the Artist list when adding or editing a CD title manually.

Music Style - Several music styles are included in CDLib - Jazz, Christmas, Greatest Hits, etc. Add or remove styles to reflect your musical taste. Once a style is added, it appears on the Style list when adding or editing a CD title manually.

CD Title - CD titles are added with optional date and price (for insurance purposes).

Song Titles - Each of the CD's songs (tracks) can display its title and time.

CDLib 2 stores your styles, artists, CD titles, song titles and magazines. You add your magazine(s) manually and let CDDB Link handle the rest. Or you can add all of your components separately - e.g. initially add your artists, then any new styles and then your CD titles. If you don't like the information from CDDB Link, you can edit it and save it to CDLib. Editing features are very flexible.

You can view lists of the five major components on the View By windows. By clicking the unassigned box, the lists will only display those components that have not yet been assigned (CD titles not assigned to magazines, styles and artists not assigned to CD titles). This is a quick and easy method to determine any loose ends you may have to clean up.

There is a Find window to help locate specific components. Find searchs for matches to your 'criteria' (e.g. find artist with 'John' in the name, find CD title with 'Jazz' as the music style, find magazine with 'q' in the name). Each match displays on the appropriate View window.

CDLib 2 is a great way to keep a running inventory of your CDs for insurance purposes. The inventory reports can be stored with other valuable papers, helping you keep your insurance information up to date.
