The purpose of the program is clear from its name.
The main purpose of the program is to extract different kinds ( ICON, BITMAP, STRING, RCDATA etc.) of resources from executable modules.
Historically the program appeared together with Delphi 1, but it got its real second life when Delphi 3, 4 run-time packages appeared. PROGRAM FEATURES

For example, BITMAP resource can be viewed as dump or as image. The view mode for the resource can be selected from the View system menu;
