L'échange de fichiers JPEG ou TIFF entre des plateformes Windows et Macintosh pose problème lors de la récupération des textes des champs IPTC contenant des chaînes de caractères accentués.
Les textes codés sur Macintosh apparaissent parfois illisibles avec des caractères invalides sur Windows parce que chaque plate-forme utilise un jeux de caractères codé différemment. C'est pourquoi Adobe recommande de ne pas utiliser les caractères étendus dans les champs IPTC créés avec Photoshop par le menu Fichier / Information.
